Project Description:
The Environmental Education and Sustainable Schools focuses on developing environmental civic awareness among pre-university students. It aims to foster sustainable and responsible behavior towards the environment through early education and active involvement of students in concrete nature
protection activities. Through educational and practical activities, such as seminars, creative workshops, tree planting actions, and the creation of an outdoor educational space, the project seeks to bring about a lasting change in the way young people perceive and interact with the environment.

Project Objectives:
The project pursues several specific objectives that align with both national
and local sustainable development strategies:
1.Creation of a forest garden and an outdoor educational space at PetruMaior College in Reghin, Mureș County, to facilitate the conduct of classes in harmony with nature.
2.Strengthening the knowledge acquired during seminars through practical activities such as environmental-themed creative workshops, tree planting actions, and organizing an ecological camp.
3.Ensuring the project visibility through an integrated communication campaign, including a website and social media presence, to disseminate information about environmental protection an sustainability.

4.Educating students and the local community about the negative impact of human activities on the environment and promoting the use of renewable resources and sustainable practices.

Target Group:
The project targets a minimum of 675 primary, middle, and high school students aged 6 to 18, divided into three age groups. The activities will include 375 students in creative workshops and 300 students in the tree planting action.

Implementation Context:
The project takes place in the city of Reghin, Mureș County, an area rich in natural resources but facing environmental issues such as poor air quality and inadequate waste management. The project activities will occur in Reghin at Petru Maior College, Mureș County, as well as other locations, to maximize
impact and include all categories of students and teaching staff.

Project Stages:
1. The project is structured into several essential stages:
2. Organizing the project team and establishing the action plan.
3. Conducting creative environmental-themed workshops addressing topics such as green energy use, selective waste collection, and the impact of climate change.
4. Creating educational materials, such as brochures and videos, to be used in schools. Tree planting actions and their importance in combating climate change,conserving biodiversity, and improving air and soil quality.
5. Organizing an ecological camp with practical activities related to environmental protection.
6. Creating an outdoor educational space and installing facilities to promote learning in an environment that allows for expression and connection with nature.

Expected Outcomes

By implementing this project, several concrete and long-lasting outcomes are anticipated:

1. Increasing awareness among students and the local community about the importance of environmental protection and sustainable practices.

2. Improving school infrastructure by creating an outdoor educational space and a forest garden, contributing to more practical and nature-connected education.

3. Actively involving students in environmental protection activities, leading to the formation of sustainable and responsible behaviors in the long term.

5. Creating an educational precedent in the region’s schools that promotes sustainability as an integral part of the school curriculum. This project represents an important step in educating the new generation about the importance of protecting the environment and developing sustainable communities.
