This year marks the second year of our orchard rehabilitation project in Batoș, which continues to
benefit from the enthusiastic support of volunteers, students from Petru Maior College in Reghin, and
those from the Waldorf School in Târgu Mureș. Here is a video of this year’s planting activity.
Together, we expanded our planting with more fruit trees and shrubs, placed along the border of the
walnut orchard. Once again, Radu Crăciun, an expert in permaculture and a founding member of the
Romanian Permaculture Association, provided our guidance. The students had the opportunity to
connect with nature and learn about proper planting methods, discussed mulching, environmental
protection, organic food, and sustainable agricultural development. The picnic with local delicacies
was a great opportunity to discuss food and its procurement, encouraging volunteers to seek local
sources or start their own gardens.
Our orchard in Batoș is entering its second year of conversion to organic farming. As we did last year,
in addition to planting, we carried out maintenance work on the walnut tree crowns and protected the
walnuts planted in previous years. During these activities, we explained to the volunteers the
importance and principles of organic farming.
Organic Farming
Organic farming is a fundamental approach to the sustainable development of modern agriculture. It
emphasizes respect for the environment and promotes the use of natural methods to maintain soil
fertility and conserve natural resources. Offering a viable alternative to intensive and chemical
practices, organic farming focuses on human well-being and environmental protection.
One of the most essential features of organic farming is the use of natural fertilization and plant
protection methods, avoiding pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Instead of disrupting the natural
balance, organic farming encourages biodiversity and beneficial ecological interactions for crops and
surrounding ecosystems.
In autumn, we will reap the fruits of our labor and gather again in the orchard to prepare the ground
for spring 2025. We will mark this moment with new and exciting educational and recreational
events. Additional details about our activities will be shared on our social media platforms. You can

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS FUNDING PROJECT
We are very excited to announce that the CleanWood CO2 Association has won a funding project
related to raising public awareness about environmental protection, in partnership with Petru Maior
College in Reghin. Approximately 600 students will benefit from creative environmental workshops,
the creation of a garden space in the schoolyard, the setup of an outdoor classroom, a planting action
in the orchard, and an ecological camp. The funding, amounting to 100,000 Euros, will be fully
provided by the Environmental Fund Administration (AFM).
